Thanks Jason
I found the book for $15 at a local used bookstore. It's not too hard to find online for around that. Another good one is "The Folk Songs of North America" edited by Alan Lomax.

Wow. I can really relate to this post. I've also "been away" from my studio, largely due to my day job for the last six weeks. (though I actually work at my computer in my studio)

I also make music turning knobs, patching modules, playing synths and programming drums and I also play guitar (mostly accoustic because my studio budget has been eaten by modules instead of an electric guitar) and I love to sing.

I think it sometimes seems strange to others that I might go between producing minimal techno one day to writing a mournful folk song the next but I've never felt the two were mutually exclusive. I see it simply as two equally important (and enjoyable) forms of expression on a continuum of being my self in the world, even if, and maybe especially so, it is just me spending time alone in my studio.

Life is dynamic. There is beauty in infinite myriad forms. I feel so grateful to be a person who can appreciate (and participate) in the breadth and depth of expression, particularly through sound and music. I expect your music collection is as eclectic as mine. ;)

Anyway, just wanted to say I really enjoy your blog. Cant wait to get the new Squarepusher album and loking forward to digging into Califone's catalog as well.

Thanks.
